Knife Marks And Blood On Body Of Karnataka’s Ex-DGP Om Prakash

Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his three-storey residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, on Sunday. The 68-year-old retired officer, originally from Champaran in Bihar, was discovered lying in a pool of blood with visible knife injuries to his neck and stomach, and his clothes torn.

According to police, the body was found after a call from his wife, Pallavi, who reported the incident around 4:30 pm. Senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar Vikas, immediately rushed to the spot. The preliminary investigation suggests a possible murder, and authorities are questioning Prakash’s wife and daughter.

“Weapons have been used. We will be able to get detailed information after further investigation,” said Vikas. Prakash’s son has lodged a formal complaint, and an FIR is in the process of being registered.

Property Dispute Angle Under Investigation

Authorities suspect that a long-standing property dispute may be at the root of the incident. While no arrests have been made yet, police are probing the role of family members in the case. Reports suggest that Prakash had confided in some associates in the past, expressing fears about threats to his life.

No Arrests Yet, FIR Underway

Responding to media questions, the Additional Commissioner said, “These things will be known only after investigation. The process of filing an FIR is still going on. After the FIR is filed, we will be able to tell about the entire incident.”

Medical teams have sent Prakash’s body for a postmortem. Investigators are now waiting for forensic results to determine the exact cause of death.

Distinguished Career Cut Short

Om Prakash, a 1981 batch IPS officer, was appointed Director General of Police of Karnataka on March 1, 2015. Known for his administrative acumen and leadership, his sudden and tragic death has shocked both the police fraternity and the general public.

Further developments in the case are awaited as the investigation continues.
