United States Vice President JD Vance came to New Delhi on Sunday morning with his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, and three children: Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel. They were joined by a team of senior American government officials.

The Vances were greeted at the Palam Air Base by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. In the evening, Vance will have extensive discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The meeting will be followed by a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister.

Vance Kids Grab Public Attention

While the primary agenda of the trip is to negotiate a possible bilateral trade agreement, web chatter was not about the diplomatic mission but about the Vance children’s cute outfits. The three children made headlines on social media after disembarking from the plane in traditional Indian clothing.

Vivek and Ewan sported light, airy kurta-pyjamas, while their little sister, three-year-old Mirabel, was adorable in a blue dress with an embroidered jacket. Usha Vance, whose parents are Telugu Brahmins who immigrated to the U.S., sported a red dress and white blazer.

“Forget Mr and Mrs Vance. Their children have stolen the show with their outfits,” one user commented on X. “Children in Indian clothes. Nice,” another wrote. “Aww! Look at what the kids are wearing,” posted a third user.

According to PTI, Vance-PM Modi talks are likely to center around accelerating the mooted trade agreement and deepening the overall U.S.-India relationship.

Aside from diplomacy, the four-day trip also has personal importance for the Vances. The family will experience Indian heritage by touring the Taj Mahal in Agra and the royal palaces of Jaipur.
