A shocking act of vandalism unfolded in Jabalpur on Thursday morning when a man was caught breaking the windows of several luxury cars with an iron rod. The incident took place in the Kotwali police station area and left a dozen car owners stunned and outraged, including a retired police officer.

Incident Captured on Video, Sparks Panic

The incident, which occurred around 8 a.m. at Pandey Chowk, was recorded on video and is currently making rounds on social media. Locals rushed out of their homes in panic as the man went on a destructive spree without any apparent motive. According to police, he targeted vehicles randomly, causing widespread damage.

Retired CSP’s Car Among the Damaged Vehicles

Among the cars damaged was one belonging to retired City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Hariom Sharma. Sharma had parked his vehicle near the Nimar Ganj vegetable market while shopping when the accused attacked. Witnesses said the man appeared suddenly with an iron rod and began smashing windows of cars parked along the street.

Locals Detain Accused, Hand Him Over to Police

A few brave onlookers intervened and managed to overpower the man before he could flee. They confiscated the rod and handed him over to the police. An FIR has been registered, and the man is currently being interrogated.

Investigation Underway, Police Assure Action

Kotwali Police Station in-charge Vipin Tamrakar confirmed that complaints had been filed by car owners and that an investigation is ongoing. “An FIR has been registered and we are questioning the accused to understand the reason behind his actions,” Tamrakar said. He also assured, “Strict action will be taken against the accused.”
