Speculation has gone haywire on social media as New Orleans residents reported the notorious Annabelle doll, connected in online legend with supernatural occurrences had suddenly disappeared. Internet users even claimed the doll had become ‘missing’ following a series of fires in the district.
One of the more recent events, a fire at the historic Nottoway Plantation, now the Nottoway Resort in White Castle, Louisiana, fueled the hysteria. While there were no reported injuries, rumors began circulating that linked the fire to Annabelle, who was alleged to have been in Louisiana for a paranormal tour. Authorities did confirm, however, that there was no indication linking the doll to the event.
The haunted Raggedy Ann-style doll is known for its association with the Warrens Occult Museum in Connecticut, which had organized a national tour featuring Annabelle. Soon after the fire, people on social media claimed the doll was no longer on display and presumed lost.
Here’s How Netizens Reacted
“I just saw a post on Facebook that they LOST THE ANNABELLE DOLL? I’m fleeing the country goodbye,” one person exclaimed on X, formerly Twitter.
Another user commented, “THEY LOST THE ANNABELLE DOLL?? LIKE?? THE HAUNTED ANNABELLE DOLL?? They take her on a tour across America. AND THEN THEY LOOSE HER? BRAH?”
“wdym the annabelle doll is missing??? who tf lost her??? i was already not able to sleep ????????????” another worried tweet read.
To counteract the mounting hysteria, Dan Rivera of the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) moved fast to dispel the rumors. In a video, Rivera demonstrated that he was within the Warrens Occult Museum, and indeed that the doll remained intact.

“Some wild and crazy internet rumors this morning that we’ve lost Annabelle. She/it is NOT lost and here’s Dan Rivera with NESPR showing she is back home inside the museum in Connecticut… at least for now. And no, Annabelle is not where she belongs in Chicago,” a Facebook post explained with Rivera’s video.
