Delhi-based beauty influencer Shubangi Anand stirred up the online world with her controversial beauty hack where she uses a green chilli as a “natural lip plumper.” The Instagram video soon racked up more than 21 million views in mere days.
She applies lip tint and gloss in the video, cutting the green chilli. With the end of the green chilli exposed, she rubs it on her lips to deliver the notable effect. In her caption, she asks if followers will try the method using chilli and fire emojis with “Would you try?”.
The video has been met with mixed reactions. While some viewers enjoyed the hack, many were concerned that the chilli might pose a danger to sensitive lip skin. Several commenters warned that the chilli could cause irritation or burns, while one user shared a personal experience of swollen lips from a similar hack. Others humorously quipped about opting for regular lip gloss instead.
