A Bengaluru woman experienced a surprising twist during her daily commute when she found out that her Uber driver was actually a team lead from her own workplace.
The revelation came to light through a viral screenshot of a WhatsApp message shared by an X user. The woman wrote, “Funny thing happened, you know. I booked Uber, and the guy who picked me up was a team lead at my office.”
Curious about the unusual side gig, she asked the team lead why he was driving a cab. She explained, “He said he does this for fun and to cut off some boredom.”
Internet Reacts with Surprise and Skepticism
The post quickly gained traction online, evoking a mix of amusement and disbelief. One commenter said, “Being stuck in traffic for hours to pass the time? Sounds fishy!”
Others, however, praised the team lead’s unconventional choice. “When I worked in US, CEO of a large MNC, whom we invited to home said he worked as a server in a hotel without any inhibition and we were fairly surprised at that time. Here in India, it is a big deal. If this is true, he will make it big in life as he is hard working. Good luck,” a user shared.
Still, some questioned the real motive behind the decision. “No one does it for fun, probably facing financial issues,” one user speculated, while another wrote, “How can a team lead have so much free time?”
Not the First Time
This isn’t the first time such a story has gone viral. In July 2024, a 35-year-old Microsoft software engineer made headlines for driving an auto-rickshaw on weekends to cope with loneliness. He was even spotted wearing his company hoodie while behind the wheel.
