Indian Student Builds World’s Smallest Vacuum Cleaner From Ballpoint Pen Components

Tapala Nadamuni, an Indian college student, has set a new Guinness World Record by creating the world’s smallest vacuum cleaner from a ballpoint pen, measuring just 0.25 inches on its shortest axis. He spent approximately $238 to transform the pen into a functional device, using a small fan and a four-volt vibration motor to generate sufficient suction for collecting dust particles.

Nadamuni, who previously held the record in 2020 with a 0.69-inch vacuum cleaner, had his title briefly surpassed by a slightly larger model. This time, he devised a new design and prepared over 50 schematic diagrams to meet the necessary standards.

Nadamuni’s latest creation has regained the record, affirming his innovative prowess in miniature engineering. “All the students in our college were amazed at this tiny vacuum cleaner, and my faculty told me that it’s the most beautiful creation they’ve ever seen,” Nadamuni told Guinness World Records.
