A shocking incident surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district where a man allegedly cut his wife’s braid while she was visiting a beauty parlour to get her eyebrows done. The husband, identified as Rampratap, was arrested on Saturday after the woman’s father filed a complaint accusing him of dowry harassment.

Father Alleges Continuous Dowry Demands

According to the complaint filed by the woman’s father, Radhakrishna, his daughter was married to Rampratap around a year ago. He claimed that she had been regularly harassed by her in-laws for dowry, including demands for a refrigerator and a cooler.

“A week ago, I brought my daughter home because of the harassment,” Radhakrishna said. “But despite that, Rampratap tracked her to a beauty parlour and attacked her by cutting her braid in public.”

Eyebrow Grooming Sparks Husband’s Fury?

While the father believes the braid-cutting was part of ongoing dowry harassment, local residents offered a different perspective. According to them, Rampratap was furious that his wife had gone to the beauty parlour to get her eyebrows threaded without his permission. This, they say, may have triggered the humiliating act.

Police Launch Probe

Circle Officer Ravi Prakash confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the investigation is ongoing. “The situation escalated when, as alleged by the father, his son-in-law, Rampratap, arrived at the beauty parlour with three companions and cut his daughter’s braid,” he said.

Authorities are now investigating both the dowry harassment angle and the alleged motive related to the beauty parlour visit.
