Om-Puri told us, but did we listen? Even after a new ceasefire pact between India and Pakistan, the cease fire did not last long. Pakistan breached the agreement by operating drones in border regions such as Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat within hours.

In the midst of increasing tensions, a powerful scene from the Bollywood movie Lakshya went viral online, resonating with many. The clip is of veteran actor Om Puri, playing Major Pritam Singh, giving a poignant message to Hrithik Roshan’s character, Karan Shergill.

“Mujhe un logo ka tajurba hai, Pakistani haare to palat ke ek baar phir aata hai…agar jeet jao to fauran laparwah nahi ho jaana. Meri baat yaad rakhna,” (“I have had experience with them; if Pakistan loses, it turns back and returns again… if you win, don’t get careless right away. Remember what I said.”)

Karan replies with a stern, “Yaad Rakhunga” (I will remember).

Take a look at the famous scene going viral:

When the ceasefire violation was taking place, social media users uploaded the clip, making comparisons between the make-believe warning and real-life happenings today.

One of the users on X, Koushik Biswas, wrote, “Never ever believe the snakes Pakistan! Dialogue from film Lakshya.” Another wrote, “Ceasefire is okay, but never forget the words of Om Puri,” whereas a third expressed, “Reel dialogue, but real message.”

After the violation, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called on Pakistan to manage the issue responsibly.

“Over the past several hours, there have been incessant violations of the understanding reached earlier this evening between the India and Pakistan Directors General of Military Operations. This is a violation of the understanding reached earlier today,” he added.

He reassured that Indian troops were responding firmly and remained vigilant.

“The army is keeping a close eye on the situation. They have been instructed to handle firmly any cases of reiteration of the violations of the border along the International Border and the Line of Control,” Misri further stated.
