How Fugitive Brazilian Drug Lord Caught After Wife’s Instagram Post

A drug lord who has been on the run for two years from the Brazilian authorities was finally caught, thanks to his wife’s Instagram posts, which only showed their ostentatious living. Shockingly, it was not the first time that the social media platform led to his capture. On a previous occasion, a post from his ex-wife had him arrested.

“A fugitive drug lord has been arrested because his wife gave away their location in an Instagram post.”. According to reports, Ronald Roland, the suspect who had been on the run for two years, had direct links with some drug cartels in Mexico and is alleged to have laundered $900 million over the last five years. De Lima owned a bikini shop, which was one of 100 businesses Roland used to launder money, and frequently posted to the platform,” Dailymail wrote as they shared a video.

It opens with a montage of different shots, depicting the drug lord and his family on holiday.

Social media erupted upon the announcement of the drug lord’s capture. One user wrote, “Attention is an addiction.” A second poster responded to the news with, “Can’t get any stupid than that.” The third asked, “How did she even have an account? I would be scared.”.

“There are ads with bikinis, but whether the bikinis were enough to buy multi-million dollar aircraft or luxury vehicles is another question,” policeman Ricardo Ruiz said to Fantástico, as reported by the Metro.
“We found partners of companies, for example, who work in a restaurant, but who are partners in several companies that moved tens of millions of reals,” he went on to say.

“He is an ultra-cautious guy. There have been numerous PF operations involving criminal organisations heavily implicated in drug trafficking across South and Central America and Mexico. Ronald was investigated with top drug traffickers in these operations,” he told the Mirror.

When contacted, Ronald and his wife, who is under investigation for probable complicity, allegedly refused to talk about the issue, saying they would not make a statement.
