A man in India’s Uttar Pradesh (UP) state allegedly received a massive surprise last month when his bank account reflected a higher balance than the net value of the world’s wealthiest man, Elon Musk.
The Startling Discovery in Hathras Village
Ajit sat at home in a village in the Hathras district on April 25 when he observed that his bank balance reflected 36 digits, as per an NDTV report. The episode left Ajit stunned.
A day prior to the tragic day, his account was charged twice, initially for ₹1,800 and later again for ₹1,400. Both the transactions occurred on the same date. But what occurred on the next day was the actual surprise, not only for Ajit and his family but for the whole population of his remote village. His bank balance reflected a huge figure of ₹1,00,13,56,00,00,01,39,54,21,00,23,56,00,00,01,39,542.
Joy Turns to Concern for Man residing in UP
While Ajit’s relatives were initially delighted with having received so much money, eventually they all dreaded the same: that crooks or scammers had stolen his account. Based on the NDTV report, Ajit had called the bank to ask what happened. The bank informed him that the credit had been caused by a technical problem that started in one of the bank branches in Jammu and Kashmir. He approached the cops after the same balance continued to show up. At the behest of the police, Ajit approached the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Crime department.
The cybercrime department is currently investigating the case. Ajit’s bank account has been frozen temporarily, as per the report. This has added to his concerns. For a brief moment, the figures displayed in his account made him appear wealthier than Elon Musk. Musk is the officially richest man in the world and the head of Tesla and SpaceX.

In comparison, Musk’s entire net value in approximate worth amounts to ₹30,700,000,000,000, as per the Bloomberg billionaire index. That is 14 digits, far off from what Ajit’s bank account showed on that ill-fated day.
