In a horrifying incident reported from Ulhasnagar, a 50-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife by slitting her throat multiple times during a domestic altercation late Friday night. The accused, identified as Anand Suryawanshi, is currently on the run, and police have launched a manhunt to track him down.
The victim, 48-year-old Surekha Anand Suryawanshi, lived with her husband and their six children in Ulhasnagar’s Shantinagar area. The couple reportedly had a history of ongoing domestic conflicts. On Friday at around 10:30 p.m., an argument between the two took a deadly turn when Anand, in a fit of rage, allegedly grabbed a sharp kitchen weapon and attacked Surekha, slitting her throat six times.
After committing the gruesome act, Anand fled the scene. Local residents who heard the commotion rushed to the house and found Surekha lying in a pool of blood. They immediately alerted the authorities and helped transport her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The Central Police Station registered a case of murder against Anand Suryawanshi and initiated an investigation. Senior Police Inspector Shankar Awatade said, “Preliminary investigation suggests the murder was driven by ongoing family disputes. No children were present at the time of the incident. A team has been formed to track the accused, and further investigation is underway.”
Police have sealed the crime scene and called in a forensic team to collect evidence, while efforts to locate and arrest the accused continue.
