A video showing a heated argument between two women at a Namma Metro station in Bengaluru has gone viral online. The clash reportedly started over language preferences. One woman wanted to speak Kannada, while the other refused and spoke in Hindi, escalating tensions.
The footage captures the two women near a ticket counter, exchanging angry words. In the video, a woman wearing a black burqa demands, “Speak Hindi.” She points at the other woman, dressed in a saree, and adds, “Are you the Chief Minister? Get lost.”
The argument intensifies as she directs derogatory remarks at the Kannada-speaking woman, saying, “Are you Siddaramaiah’s woman?” Despite the insults, the saree-clad woman repeatedly urges, “Kannada… Kannada,” insisting on using her native language. The other woman continues to refuse, keeping the confrontation alive.
The video has been widely shared on social media, prompting mixed reactions. Some users expressed concern over rising language tensions. One Reddit user commented, “Every day there seems to be a fight over Kannada why so much intolerance nowadays?”
Meanwhile, another user on X wrote, “The situation is so confused that it doesn’t really warrant outrage or a hullabaloo from language warriors. Time and energy saved.”
The incident highlights ongoing sensitivity around language use in public spaces and has sparked discussion on social media about respect, communication, and tolerance.
