A viral video purportedly capturing a ‘haldi ceremony’ being performed inside an Agra Metro coach left netizens both amazed and baffled at the same time, Page Six reported. A video that worked its way around Instagram showed the carriage bedecked in golden ribbons, provoking viewers’ come nearby curious.

However, it was explained later by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation that the ‘haldi’ event was not a wedding event but a private Basant Panchmi-themed party. However, the unconventional visuals of an event train using public transport still drew varied reactions online.

Viral Video Misconception of Haldi Ceremony

The video, which was originally shared by the user ‘approved_by_divyata’ on their Instagram, caught the public’s attention and quickly took off with about 70k likes a day. The golden ribbons on the entry to the metro have led many to believe that it was a pre-wedding geet-Sangeet.

Social media users could not stop speculating whether the Agra Metro was for rental, with influences labeling it as ‘the Agra Metro Rental Service.’

UP Metro’s Take & Internet Reaction

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is kept where necessary to issue the clarification. They had presented a formal response to this, stating, “This is to inform you that this wasn’t a Haldi Function, but a private Basant Panchmi-themed party. Any kind of wedding festivities is beyond Agra Metro.
