Hair Found In ‘Chutney’ At A Popular Eatery In Telangana

Hair discovered in chutney served at a restaurant in Telangana has sparked controversy. Following a customer’s complaint, the associate medical officer of health (AMOH) in Kapra imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the eatery under Section 674 of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act, 1955.

The customer, Umesh Kumar, shared a photo on social media showing a strand of hair in the coconut chutney he was served at Chutneys, a popular eatery in A S Rao Nagar, near Radhika, ECIL. Kumar’s bill indicated that he had ordered steamed dosa, idli, an “MLA” dosa, and mineral water at the restaurant. He reported the incident to the manager, who acknowledged the issue and replaced the food. However, Kumar described the experience as unpleasant.

Additionally, Kumar raised concerns about the total dissolved solids (TDS) levels in the mineral water bottles he purchased, questioning whether the water is safe for consumption if the TDS values are below 75.

Kumar also shared screenshots of Google reviews criticizing the eatery’s hygiene standards. One review mentioned finding dust in the ghee container and receiving curd packets that had expired in May but were relabeled for June.

This incident comes amidst ongoing raids by the Food Safety Department in Hyderabad. In a recent raid on Rameswaram Cafe, officials discovered several expired products, including urad dal, curd, jaggery, and milk. Following these findings, the eatery’s co-founder, Raghavendra Rao, issued a video apology.
