A joyous wedding procession in Raghanpur village, Raebareli, took a dramatic turn when the groom was revealed to be an imposter. The incident, which unfolded under the jurisdiction of the Mill Area Police Station, has left families and guests in shock.
A Bizarre Twist in the Baraat
The wedding, arranged by Sunil Kumar for his sister, saw a vibrant procession arriving from Jhujnu village in Jhajjar district. However, suspicions arose when the groom’s identity did not match previous encounters. The family had met a young man in his 20s from Panipat, but the man who arrived was noticeably older—around 40—and hailed from Jhajjar. This discrepancy quickly led to confusion and distress among the families present.
Dubious Explanation and Immediate Action
Middlemen responsible for the marriage arrangements claimed that the original groom had suffered a broken leg, necessitating a last-minute replacement. This explanation, however, did little to ease the concerns of the bride’s family. Outraged by the misleading information, the family immediately alerted the police.
Local authorities responded swiftly. The imposter groom, along with the middlemen involved, were taken into custody for questioning. Sunil Kumar, the bride’s brother, expressed his frustration, stating that the middlemen had deceived them, and confirmed that the marriage would not proceed under these circumstances.

Rajiv Singh, Station House Officer at Mill Area Police Station, confirmed that three individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident. An investigation is currently underway to determine how the deception occurred and to ensure that those responsible face appropriate legal action.
