Princess Theodora of Greece, daughter of the late King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie, married Indian-origin American lawyer Matthew Kumar in a grand ceremony held in Athens in 2024. The wedding, reminiscent of a modern-day fairytale, saw the Greek royal don a stunning gown paired with priceless heirloom jewellery.
Although Greece ended its monarchy in 1973, Theodora and her family members still hold their royal titles nominally. Born in London, Theodora is the fourth of five children to the last King of Greece. Her father, King Constantine, had intimate relationships with British royalty and was the godfather of Prince William.

Having spent her initial years in England, Theodora relocated to the United States for further studies and later began a career in acting as “Theodora Greece.”
Meet the Groom: Matthew Kumar
Matthew Kumar is a California attorney who practices debt collection. According to The Week, Kumar is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a law degree and operates the FarMar Law Group. Though brought up in the U.S., Kumar’s roots are still Indian. The couple even went to Dehradun in 2019 and attended pre-wedding ceremonies, such as a haldi ceremony. A picture posted by Theodora on Instagram is of her wearing a blue saree and Kumar wearing the traditional kurta-pyjama. Love Story and Delayed Celebrations
Theodora and Kumar met in 2016 and became engaged in 2018. Although their wedding was scheduled for 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a postponement. The couple rescheduled the ceremony for spring 2023 but then delayed it again after King Constantine’s death.
In the end, the couple married in 2024 in the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral in the presence of royalty and dignitaries, including the Serbian Crown Prince.
