From Tissot To Armani: Amazon Customer’s Used Watch Swapped With Designer Timepiece

An Amazon customer’s purchase of a Rs 31,500 Tissot watch intended as a birthday gift took a troubling turn. Upon receiving the watch, the customer checked its serial number for authenticity, only to discover it was a used item. After filing a complaint with Amazon and requesting a replacement, the situation worsened when the replacement arrived—a watch by Armani rather than the Tissot they ordered.

“Fraud by Amazon,” wrote an X (formerly Twitter) user named “The Disciplined Investor” on the platform.

The user detailed, “I had ordered a Tissot PRX watch on July 21 from Amazon. It arrived on July 28 from the seller Mega Store LLP. I checked the watch’s serial number on Tissot’s website and discovered it was purchased on February 15, 2023.”

The user continued, stating that the replacement was an Armani watch sent in the Tissot box. “The fraud seller had sent a used product. I complained to Amazon, and they offered a replacement with a promise of strict action against the seller. However, the replacement was an Armani watch in the Tissot box.”

When the issue was reported to Amazon, the customer care team repeatedly transferred calls to higher management, resulting in long wait times without resolution. Despite submitting a detailed complaint form, the user received only a generic reply, with a promise of a call from a representative within 6-12 hours, which later extended to 24-48 hours.
