A shocking video from a funeral has gone viral on social media, igniting a fiery debate about friendship, grief, and cultural sensitivity. In the footage, mourners are seen pouring alcohol into the mouth of a deceased person and lighting a cigarette for them, claiming it as their final tribute.

Shared by an account named Janthu Jetha, the video shows the body of the deceased lying in a pit, surrounded by a group of people. One mourner pours alcohol into a glass and appears to make the body “drink” it, while another lights a cigarette and places it between the lips of the deceased.

Some users were moved by what they saw as a loyal farewell. One commenter said, “Even if my friend dies, I will do the same.” Others, however, slammed the act as deeply disrespectful. Criticisms included calling the actions “stupidity” and claiming that “Indian culture is being destroyed.”

Beyond the surface shock, the video has prompted deeper conversations about friendship and mourning. What does it mean to honor a friend in death? Do such unconventional rites reflect love, or are they self-indulgent displays?

The viral clip has clearly touched a nerve, raising uncomfortable questions about how society defines respect and the lengths people go to while coping with grief. While reactions remain divided, one thing is clear—this funeral has sparked a conversation far bigger than the ceremony itself.
