A British Airways flight steward was arrested after being found dancing nude in a business class lavatory on a flight from San Francisco to London Heathrow last Sunday.
The absence of the crew member at meal service caused concern mid-flight, and co-workers searched for him across the plane. Their search was in shock when they discovered him totally naked dancing in the lavatory. According to The Sun, the crew was shocked by his unstable behavior at 37,000 feet.
One of his co-workers supposed he might have been on drugs: “We believe the guy did pills when he was supposed to be at work. It is an amazing thing to do. The plane was flying at 37,000ft above the Atlantic, but this fellow was higher than anybody else.”
Other crew members promptly dressed him in a spare set of First Class pyjamas and transferred him to the First Class cabin, where he stayed for the remainder of the ten-and-a-half hour flight.
Upon arrival, he was given medical treatment, wheeled off the plane, and arrested by airport officials. British Airways has since grounded the flight attendant pending an internal investigation.
Another Controversy
The naked episode followed closely on the heels of a recent controversy over a former flight attendant. Charlotte May Lee, 21, from Coulsdon, south London, appeared before a Colombo court last Friday, accused of attempting to smuggle cannabis into Sri Lanka.
Lee was arrested at Bandaranaike Airport on May 11 on her return from Bangkok. Officials claimed to have recovered 46 kg of ‘Kush,’ a highly concentrated variety of synthetic cannabis in her bag, estimated value £1.2 million.
She was visibly distressed in court, dressed in a white gown, with her hands cuffed as police escorted her to a prison van. Throughout the hearing, she was said to be disoriented and had trouble understanding what was going on, as it was being conducted in Sinhalese.
Sri Lankan authorities took the seized drugs to court as part of their continuing investigation. Lee, a TUI Airways ex-staffer, is to appear in court again in two weeks.
