While most prefer dramatic gestures such as flash mobs or candlelit dinners, a man in the U.S. upped the ante by proposing to the love of his life against the backdrop of a huge tornado.
The stunning moment has been recorded in a video that has gone viral on social media in Arnett, Oklahoma. In the video, Matt Michell is proposing to Becky Patel as a tornado rages in the background. Becky then posted the video on Facebook, where she typed, “On May 18, in Arnett, Oklahoma, in front of the most incredible tornado, Matt Michell went down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.”. I believe my squealing and jumping answer tells you what my response was!”

Becky, who is Canadian, couldn’t be more thrilled with the way the evening turned out. “Matt, you make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world, and I love you with all my heart,” she included in her tearful post.
The romantic moment, captured on camera by their friend Chris Gullikson, is of the couple standing next to their SUV as the tornado approaches menacingly in the distance. While Matt asks Becky to marry him, the thrilled bride says yes, jumps for happiness, and yells, “I love you, baby!” before hugging him. They also stopped for a quick picture, beaming with pride as they display Becky’s oval-cut diamond engagement ring.
Michell, according to reports, is from Illinois and has been guiding storm-chasing tours for the last six years for Tempest Tours. Becky informed KLAW that she joined one of his tours last year.
Remembering their beginnings, she told us, “I was only asked to chase for two weeks but Matt requested that I stay with him and chase with him for another week as well, so I did!” The couple has been chasing storms together ever since, including one memorable tornado in Wyoming.
