Elderly Woman Injured By Metal Barricade As Gusty Winds Hit Andheri | WATCH

A shocking incident from Mumbai’s Andheri West has gone viral, sparking concern over public safety at roadwork sites. A CCTV video from Marve Road captures the horrifying moment an elderly woman was struck by a metal barricade during gusty winds near an ongoing road construction area. The footage shows her walking calmly along the roadside before two barricades collapse. One lands directly on her leg, leaving her visibly injured and unable to stand.

The video shows passersby immediately rushing to her aid. Several people can be seen lifting the heavy barricade and trying to comfort the woman, who remained seated on the road. While the extent of her injuries has not been officially confirmed, reports claim she required major surgery.

The video was first posted by an X (formerly Twitter) user under the handle @SaferRoadsSquad. In the post, the user tagged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and its roads department. The caption read: “Recent incident in Andheri-W: Senior citizen injured by falling barricades, needed major surgery. @mybmc @mybmcRoads Ensure proper barricading on Marve Rd to protect pedestrians from dug-up roads & also vehicles. Incident Possibly Linked to April 4 Thunderstorm

Though the exact date of the incident hasn’t been confirmed, the gusty winds in the footage suggest it may have occurred on April 4, when Mumbai experienced a sudden thunderstorm. On the same day, Central Railway services were disrupted due to storm-related debris entangling overhead wires between Atgaon and Thansit.

This alarming incident has reignited public demands for stricter safety protocols at construction sites. Citizens are urging authorities to install sturdier barricades and ensure pedestrian zones are free from such hazards, especially during unpredictable weather.
