‘Desi Jugaad’: UP Kid Becomes Ambulance Driver With A Scrap Cart Taking Brother To Hospital | WATCH

In a distressing reflection of Uttar Pradesh’s struggling healthcare system, a heartbreaking video from Raebareli district has gone viral, showing an 11-year-old boy pulling his injured elder brother to a hospital on a scrap-collecting rickshaw due to the unavailability of an ambulance.

Desperate Measures in Hasanpur Village

The incident occurred in Hasanpur village of the Unchahar area, where a 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after falling from a wall. Despite repeated calls, the family received no response from emergency services. Left with no choice, the younger brother placed his injured sibling on the same type of rickshaw their father uses to collect scrap and dragged it all the way to the nearest hospital.

A woman, believed to be their mother, is seen walking behind the cart, giving it a push from the rear. The video of this desperate act, posted by @bstvlive on X (formerly Twitter), has drawn sharp public criticism and sparked debate over the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Authorities Respond After Public Outcry

Following the video’s circulation and mounting outrage, officials intervened. Dr. Manoj Shukla, superintendent of the local Community Health Centre, confirmed, “The injured child is now being treated.”

A Stark Reminder of Healthcare Gaps

While the state continues to make claims about healthcare improvements, incidents like this reveal the harsh reality many families face. In emergencies, even basic services like an ambulance are not always accessible, forcing families into unimaginable decisions.
