A Delta Air Lines jet flipped upside down after landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, leaving 18 passengers injured. Delta Airlines confirmed the incident on X, stating that the injured individuals were transported to local hospitals.

Passenger Shares Harrowing Video of Crash

John Nelson, a passenger on the flight from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Toronto, recorded a video capturing the chaotic evacuation. The footage shows the aircraft resting upside down on a snow-covered runway as passengers struggle to move away from the wreckage. Emergency responders can be seen extinguishing flames while evacuees walk through the snow.

“We just landed. Our plane crashed. It’s upside down,” Nelson said in the video, struggling to catch his breath.

Survivor’s Testimony: “I Smell Like Jet Fuel”

Speaking to CNN, Nelson said he had no indication of trouble before landing. “It felt like a normal flight until we hit the ground,” he recalled. “The impact was extremely hard, and the plane skidded sideways. I saw a huge fireball on the left side of the aircraft.”

Nelson and other passengers scrambled to exit the plane as quickly as possible. “Even now, I still smell like jet fuel,” he added.

Delta CEO Responds

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian addressed the incident in an official statement. “The entire Delta family stands with those affected by today’s event at Toronto Pearson International Airport. We are grateful to our crew, first responders, and all involved in the rescue efforts,” he said. The airline is currently investigating the details of the crash.

Aviation Safety Concerns Rise Amid Recent Disasters

This accident comes amid a series of troubling aviation incidents. Just weeks ago, an American Airlines jet collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter, resulting in the tragic loss of all 64 people onboard. Additionally, deadly crashes involving Jeju Air and Azerbaijan Airlines in December have heightened concerns over flight safety.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the Delta Air Lines crash in Toronto.
