A Delhi-based female tourist biker was slapped and verbally abused during her trip to Nainital, Uttarakhand. The disturbing incident occurred when the woman was stopped at an allegedly unauthorized checkpoint in the hilly region by a police officer. Despite wearing a helmet and presenting all necessary documents, she was subjected to unacceptable behavior by the officer.
The incident took place in the Ramgarh area, a popular tourist destination, where the woman was stopped for a routine check. The officer, identified as Gulab Singh Kambhoj, demanded her vehicle documents. After the woman complied, presenting her helmet and papers, Kambhoj struck her, shocking the biker and her companions.

The woman, who had been recording the encounter, captured the police officer’s aggressive behavior on camera. The video, now viral, shows the woman accusing Kambhoj and his team of targeting women during routine checks. She observed that Kambhoj had let go of male bikers who wore similar helmets but stopped her, claiming her helmet was unfit.
In the video, the woman challenges the officer’s biased actions, questioning, “Helmet tha? Toh kya dikkat hai? (We wore helmets? So what’s the problem?)”. Despite her clarification that both she and her pillion rider were safely wearing helmets, the officer continued to harass them. “Peeche wale ne helmet pehna tha? (Did the pillion rider wear helmet?)”, Kambhoj asked, trying to justify his actions.
The woman and her friend then pointed out that two male bikers with the same helmets had passed through without being stopped. “Abhi 2 ladke gaye same aisa helmet pehenke. Ladko ko kyu nahi roka?”, the woman asked, emphasizing the double standard. When Kambhoj failed to provide an answer, he allegedly grabbed her phone and threw it, escalating the situation.
Things took a more serious turn when the officer openly slapped the woman in front of her friends. The woman’s friend later shared on social media, “My friend who was with me was hurt. Half of her face is swollen.”
As the video went viral, outrage spread across social media, with netizens demanding action against the officer. The incident highlighted concerns over police misconduct and gender discrimination, prompting an outcry from both the public and media.
In response to the viral video, Nainital Police addressed the incident on social media, claiming that the woman was riding a two-wheeler without a number plate. The police stated that she had failed to produce the necessary documents and that the pillion rider was not wearing a helmet, which contrasted with the visuals showing both women wearing helmets.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Nainital Police assured the public that an investigation would take place. “After checking the validity and responsibility of the documents of the rental vehicle, action will be taken against whoever is found guilty (driver, policeman or vehicle owner) as per the rules. Nainital Police is committed to fair investigation and maintaining law and order,” the post read.
While the police promised an investigation, the case has sparked a broader conversation about police behavior, accountability, and the treatment of women in India.
