In an unusual and laughable turn during a job recruitment process, a female talent acquisition specialist in Delhi was left speechless when an applicant decided to forgo a formal resume and instead sent romantic poetry over WhatsApp.
Shayari Replaces CV in Hiring Exchange
Ritika Agnihotri, who works with Depex Technologies, recently shared a bizarre experience on LinkedIn. During a hiring outreach, she received romantic messages from a job seeker instead of a professional application. One of the poetic lines sent to her read:
“Kaise jiye ek pal bhi unke bin…”
Another message included a full romantic verse:
“Muskan ban jaata hai koi, dil ki dhadkan ban jaata hai koi, Kaise jiye ek pal bhi unke bin, Jab zindagi jeene ki wajah ban jaata hai koi…”
What began as a standard recruitment attempt quickly turned into an awkward exchange. Ritika also revealed that another individual messaged her late at night and commented on her appearance, texting:
“Aap sundar itni ho main aapko dekhne ke baad ab tak nahi bhool paya ma’am. But jo sach tha woh bola, gussa mat hona. You are the most beautiful girl in the world.”
HR Calls Out Unprofessional Behaviour
Clearly disappointed, Ritika asked how one should deal with job seekers who show no sense of professionalism or appropriate communication. Her frustration resonated with many LinkedIn users who joined the discussion.
Internet Reacts Sharply
One user suggested sarcastically,
“Next time, if you find such a person, hire him and fire him within a month—no notice needed.”
Another wrote,
“We should disclose their identity to teach them a lesson and prevent them from targeting others. Blocking alone won’t stop such behavior.”
The incident has now gone viral, raising questions about the lack of boundaries some individuals maintain in professional environments.
