Dead Woman Found With Sealed Lips Dumped In Trolley Bag In Kolkata Road

In a chilling incident from Baguihati, a northern suburb of Kolkata, police recovered the body of a woman with her lips sealed using brown tape from a trolley bag dumped by the roadside. The discovery was made on Tuesday morning after a newspaper vendor, noticing the bag had been lying unattended since the previous night, alerted the local police with the help of a senior resident.

Police Launch Investigation

Upon arrival, officers from the local police station opened the bag to find the young woman, dressed in a salwar kurta, lifeless inside. Her identity remains unknown, and her body was sent for post-mortem examination.

“The exact reason behind the death will surface only after the final autopsy report is available. Prima facie, it seems that the woman was murdered somewhere else, and then her body was placed in the trolley bag, and finally, the bag was dumped at the roadside. We have started our investigation into the matter. Our prime aim is to know the identity of the woman,” said one of the investigating officials.

CCTV Footage, Missing Person Reports Under Review

Officials are currently scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace any clues regarding the dumping of the bag. Simultaneously, they are checking missing persons’ diaries across police stations in the city to identify the victim.

Previous Incident Raises Alarms

This case comes just two months after a similarly gruesome discovery in north Kolkata, where the headless, dismembered body of a woman was found inside a trolley bag being disposed of in the Ganges. In that case, two women—Falguni and Aarati Ghosh—were arrested for allegedly murdering their elderly relative Sumita Ghosh.
