Couple’s ‘Not Invited’ Wedding Cards Ignite Controversy, Chores Requested From Guests

A significant part of wedding planning involves creating a guest list and sending out invitations on time. However, a recent incident saw a couple using wedding cards to inform people who were not invited to their wedding. Additionally, those who were invited were assigned specific chores. A viral Reddit post revealed that an individual received a surprising wedding invitation from a cousin. The couple planned a small garden wedding at a location five hours away from where everyone lived and decided to keep the guest list short due to budget constraints. The most unexpected aspect was the ‘not invited’ wedding cards sent to those who did not make the guest list.

“I just found out that the wedding couple are sending ‘cards’ to people that are not invited that they are getting married soon and ‘you are in our hearts on this special day’ BEFORE the wedding,” read the post.

The Redditor further explained, “Once the ceremony is done the wedding party will leave to take photos while the GUESTS set up the tables for the reception. I was like what??? They never ASKED if people are willing to do that as if they just dictated people what to do.”

The post added that the invitation seemed quite absurd, prompting them to ask the couple if they were serious, to which the couple replied “yea” and mentioned that many guests had agreed to the conditions. The couple justified their decision, stating they did not have the budget to hire staff for the tasks and thus asked guests to help.

Unsurprisingly, most readers were astonished by the couple’s actions. One user commented, “I guess the wedding will be smaller than expected because I would definitely send my regrets. Wow – just unbelievable.” Another remarked, “The only reason I’d go to this is morbid curiosity.”
