In today’s times, when everybody is making reels and clicking pictures, common sense and safety are the most ignored aspects. That hit really hard in Rajasthan’s Pali district, where a couple clicked pictures in a photoshoot on a railway bridge despite the arrival of the train and got injured.
A viral video captured the couple standing perilously close to the edge of the railway bridge as the train approached. Perhaps the footage with distressing visuals explains the situation better.
Reports suggest that 22-year-old Rahul Mewada and wife Jahnvi, 20, residents of Kalal Ki Pipaliyan in Bagdi Nagar, had come to Gormghat on their bike for a photoshoot. The session was cut short as a train suddenly emerged on the heritage bridge, designed only for metre gauge trains. Panic-stricken, the couple jumped off the bridge, injuring themselves seriously. Rahul was later referred to Jodhpur due to severe spinal injuries; Jahnvi is getting treated for a leg fracture at Bangar Hospital.
The fact that Rahul’s sister and brother-in-law, who managed to flee upon seeing the approaching train, escaped unharmed makes the incident a grim pointer at the perilous consequences of reckless behavior for those social media-worthy moments.
