A Class 2 student who was killed in his hostel last week was reportedly ‘sacrificed’ in a black magic ritual aimed at bringing success and prosperity to a school in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, according to police statements on Thursday.
Authorities announced the arrest of five individuals, including the director of D L Public School in Rasgawan, along with his father and three teachers, for their alleged roles in the incident, as reported by news agency ANI.
Nipun Agarwal, the Superintendent of Police in Hathras, confirmed the arrests and stated, “The child was strangled with the intent to bring prosperity to the school and secure its future.” Reports indicate that the child was killed on September 22.
The initial investigation revealed that Dinesh Baghel, the director of DL Public School, along with his father, Jashodhan Singh, who believed in black magic, orchestrated the plan to sacrifice a child for fame.
It was reported that the accused initially intended to carry out the black magic ritual on September 6, but it was unsuccessful after the child sensed something was wrong and was saved despite attempts to strangle him. Medical reports confirmed signs of strangulation.
The ritual was attempted again on September 22, with the intention of sacrificing the boy near a tube well on the school grounds to ensure the institution’s success and prosperity. When the boy regained consciousness during the transport, the accused panicked and subsequently strangled him to death, according to reports.
DL Public School accommodates around 600 students, and the hostel where the boy was killed houses students from classes 1 to 5. The victim was identified as the son of Krishna Kushwaha, a software engineer based in Delhi. The police have stated that an investigation into the case is ongoing.
