A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus crashed into two motorcycles and fell into a roadside drain near Bengaluru on Monday morning, killing one and injuring seven others. The accident took place around 10:30 am near Kaggalipura police station on the city’s outskirts.

Police identified the deceased as Nagaraju, a 52-year-old sub-inspector posted at the Electronic City traffic police station. Authorities added that two of the seven injured are in critical condition.

CCTV Captures Moment of Crash

Footage from a nearby CCTV camera surfaced on social media, capturing the chilling moment when the KSRTC bus made a turn and collided directly with two motorcycles. Within seconds, the bus veered off the road and toppled sideways into a large open drain. Although it did not fully submerge, it was seen hanging from the edge of a bridge over the drain.

Driver Arrested; Mechanical Failure Cited

According to police, the bus was en route to Bengaluru from Kanakapura when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. Authorities arrested the driver shortly after the crash and registered a case.

During interrogation, the driver claimed, “the steering cable snapped,” which caused the accident. However, officials are still investigating the driver’s statement and examining the bus for any mechanical faults.

Police continue to probe all aspects of the incident, including the possibility of vehicle malfunction and driver negligence. The case remains open as authorities await further forensic and mechanical assessments of the bus involved.
