‘Boss Denies Wedding Leave’: Indian Couple Marries Over Video Call

In a heartwarming yet unusual wedding, a couple had to solemnise their marriage over a video call after the groom’s leave request for the ceremony was denied by his employer in Turkey. Adnan Muhammad, a native of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, had planned to travel to India to marry his fiancée, who resides in Himachal Pradesh.

However, his employer’s refusal to grant him time off complicated the situation. With the bride’s grandfather desperately wishing to witness the wedding before his health deteriorated, the couple quickly sought alternative solutions. As a result, the wedding was held virtually, with both the bride and groom saying “Qubool Hai” through a video call, marking a new chapter in their lives.

Families Travel, but the Wedding Rituals Were Conducted Online

Despite the hurdles, the groom’s family traveled with the baraat from Bilaspur to Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, where the bride resides. However, the couple had to rely on technology for the marriage rituals. Guided by a qazi, the wedding was solemnised over a video call, a decision born out of necessity.

This unique virtual marriage is not the first of its kind. A similar online ceremony was held in Himachal Pradesh earlier this year when another couple, Ashish Singha and Shivani Thakur, had to marry virtually due to flash floods and landslides. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many couples opted for virtual ceremonies.

One such instance was in Kerala, where Vignesh KM and Anjali Ranjith exchanged vows over Zoom, sending out e-invitations for their virtual celebration. Despite challenges, love found a way to triumph, proving that even in difficult circumstances, tradition and technology can come together to create unforgettable moments.
