A 42-year-old delivery boy from Bhopal has been arrested for printing counterfeit currency at his residence and circulating it in the market. The shocking revelation came during a routine vehicle inspection by Bhopal Police at Housing Board Square on the evening of May 2.
According to officials, a scooter with an unclear number plate triggered suspicion during the check. When the police signaled the rider to stop, he attempted to flee but was quickly caught. Upon interrogation, the suspect identified himself as Zakir Khan, a resident of Indravihar Colony.
Police Recover Printer, Counterfeit Notes
The investigation led police to Khan’s home, where they uncovered a full-fledged setup for printing fake currency. “We found an HP printer used for printing counterfeit notes, along with 55 fake ₹100 notes—all bearing the same serial number,” said a police official. Officers also seized 50 sheets of plain paper, each printed with two ₹100 and two ₹50 notes on both sides. All the notes carried identical serial numbers, suggesting a large-scale operation.
In addition to the fake notes, other materials used for counterfeiting were also recovered from the scene. A case has been filed under Sections 179, 180, and 181 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Authorities are investigating whether more people are involved in the racket or if Khan was operating alone.
