Elephants are intelligent, and a recent viral social media clip is testimony to this. The clip shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parveen Kaswan is of a touching interaction between a calf elephant and its mother describing the learning process of the calf in eating grass the proper way.
The two elephants are observed walking side by side in the video, and the mother pauses to graze. What follows is captivating as well as adorable. The mother takes her time first to shake some dirt off the roots of the grass with the help of the foot and the trunk before bending down to scoop up a mouthful. The calf looks on intently, as if taking cues from her every step. The internet users have termed it “nature’s classroom in session.”
Kaswan described the video as: “That little one being taught by mom the proper way to eat grass. Not even little dirt needs to go in tummy.”
