A confrontation between two Pakistani journalists, Safina Khan and Asad Ali Malik, escalated into a heated exchange during media coverage of an event in London. The incident has drawn attention after Khan accused Malik and other journalists of threatening and abusing her. Khan shared a video of the alleged altercation, showing Malik and others verbally attacking her.

The Alleged Incident

The altercation took place during the media coverage of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. Khan, a London-based journalist, alleged that Malik, along with ARY News reporter Fareed and Hum News journalist Rafeeq, verbally assaulted her. Khan later took to social media to express her distress, stating that the reporters had threatened her and made abusive remarks.

Khan also expressed concern for her safety, saying, “If anything happened to me, these reporters would be responsible.”

In another post, Khan shared her experience of hearing abusive language towards the mother of Senator Journalist Azhar Javed. “I heard someone’s mother being abused, not for myself. There was no such thing as honour among these shameless men. The one who abused the mother of Senator Journalist Azhar Javed from Youth was being slapped while sitting down. When I could not tolerate the abuse of Azhar Javed’s mother, how could I remain silent after hearing the abuse of my own mother?” Khan posted in Urdu.

Malik’s Response

Responding to the allegations, Malik denied the accusations, calling them “baseless.” He shared a video on social media, refuting Khan’s claims and accusing her of using abusive language herself. “These are false and baseless allegations, consistent with her pattern of past behaviour. The facts are clear and supported by multiple eyewitnesses,” Malik wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

A Long-Standing Tension

While the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, Khan’s history of public controversies has added a layer of complexity to the issue. Khan has previously made headlines for her outspoken views, particularly her criticism of India. Recently, she sparked a controversy when she allegedly disrespected the Indian tricolour during a pro-Khalistan protest in London.

Investigation and Reactions

The altercation has led to calls for further investigation into the incident. Both Khan and Malik are well-known figures in the Pakistani journalism community, and their public exchange of accusations has brought the issue into the spotlight.
