A shocking incident from Bodena village in Korchi taluka of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district has left the local community grieving. A 10-year-old girl, Sonali, died by suicide after a dispute with her sister over watching her favourite TV channel.
On the morning of May 22, Sonali, along with her 12-year-old sister Sandhya and younger brother Saurabh, were watching television when an argument broke out. Sonali wanted to watch her preferred channel, but Sandhya, who had the remote, refused to change it. The disagreement escalated into a heated quarrel.
In a moment of anger and emotional distress, Sonali left the house and went behind it, where she allegedly hanged herself from a tree. By the time her family discovered her, it was already too late. The entire village is in mourning following the tragic loss.
Family Background Revealed
Sonali and her siblings were students at an ashram school in Gondia district and had returned home for their summer holidays. Their father had passed away earlier, and their mother has been raising all four children alone.
Police Launch Investigation
As soon as local authorities received information, the Korchi police arrived at the scene. Police Inspector Shailesh Thackeray and his team conducted a panchnama and sent the body for post-mortem. The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
