In a continued effort to enhance the pilgrimage experience for devotees, Shri Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), unveiled a state-of-the-art Accommodation Management System at the Enquiry & Reservation Counter in Katra. This initiative, in line with the directions of the Chairman of SMVDSB, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, aims to streamline the accommodation process for pilgrims and is set to be implemented at all Reservation Counters operated by SMVDSB.

The robust Accommodation Management System promises to simplify check-ins and checkouts, making the process more efficient and less time-consuming for pilgrims. Moreover, the system ensures secure financial transactions related to reservations, contributing to an overall improved experience for devotees. The implementation of this system is expected to enhance room allotment efficiency, benefiting a greater number of pilgrims visiting the Holy Shrine.

This announcement follows the recent inauguration by the SMVDSB Chairman of an online booking facility for the passenger ropeway from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan to the Bhairon Ji Temple. The online booking facility, well-received by pilgrims, has witnessed an increase in the daily quota to 3,000 tickets starting January 2024.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has been at the forefront of adopting emerging technologies and response mechanisms to provide state-of-the-art facilities. Notably, the introduction of a live darshan facility for the “Holy Pindies” enables devotees worldwide to virtually experience the Holy Shrine. Additionally, a bilingual interactive chatbot named “Shakti” has been developed for the official website, complementing the 24*7 toll-free helpline equipped with IVRS to address queries and grievances.

To ensure pilgrims receive accurate information, SMVDSB has integrated digital payments across various sale units, minimizing cash transactions through self-serve kiosk machines, QR codes, EDC machines, UPI payments, and popular digital platforms for donations and Prasad sales. The digitalization of front-end services, such as Helicopter and Battery Car bookings, RFID yatra access cards, and real-time tracking through dedicated RF networks and over 700 CCTV cameras, has not only facilitated pilgrims but also improved administrative efficiencies through digital records and real-time reporting.

Shri Anshul Garg expressed his commitment to leveraging technology to provide a seamless pilgrimage experience, ensuring that the devotees’ spiritual journey is supported by modern, efficient systems.
