On the occasion of Independence Day, Uttarakhand Governor Lt General Gurmeet Singh hoisted the national flag at the Raj Bhavan, paying tribute to freedom fighters and extending his congratulations to the people of the state.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Singh emphasized that India in the 21st century is brimming with possibilities and potential, advancing steadily on the path of sustainable development. He noted that Uttarakhand is also progressing with a strong resolve, emerging as one of the fastest-developing states in the country.

Highlighting the importance of technology and innovation, the Governor stated, “There are infinite possibilities in fields like AI, space, cyber, quantum, and robotics. We must strengthen our reach in these areas to position Uttarakhand as a leading state in the nation.” He urged everyone to contribute their best efforts to the development of both the country and the state.

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also hoisted the national flag, marking the 78th Independence Day celebrations. Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous remarks, Dhami said, “From the land of Baba Kedar, the Prime Minister declared that the third decade of the 21st century belongs to Uttarakhand. We must take an oath today that within the next 10 years, Uttarakhand will emerge as the best state in the country—a self-reliant, developed state.”

Chief Minister Dhami also announced a series of initiatives aimed at boosting the state’s development. These include designating one local body in each district as a model body, increasing pension scheme benefits from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000, connecting youth with skill development programs, and launching a welfare scheme for senior citizens.

The Independence Day celebrations in Uttarakhand showcased the state’s commitment to progress, innovation, and inclusive development as it continues on its journey toward becoming a model state in India.
