Many people were killed in the shootout incident reported from the US state of Virginia on Tuesday. Officials claimed that the shooter was also thought to have died.

According to media reports, which cited Chesapeake Police, the incident was reported at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia. The American broadcaster claims that when police arrived at the store at 10:12 p.m. (local time), they discovered evidence of a shooting inside.

Kosinski claimed that when police entered the store, they found a number of people who had died and been injured. Police are still unable to confirm an exact death toll, but they believe it to be “less than ten,” he continued.

Leo Kosinski, a public information officer for the Chesapeake Police, told the media that the shooter is thought to be among the victims.

During the investigation, Chesapeake city officials asked that people avoid the store.

“Chesapeake Police confirm an active shooter incident with fatalities at the Walmart on Sam’s Circle. The shooter is deceased,” the city said in a tweet.
“Follow us here for the only official updates. Our first responders are well-trained and prepared to respond; please give them space to do so,” it added.
