Washington [US], 26 April On Tuesday (local time), Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden both declared their intention to run for a second term in office.
“Every generation faces a time when they must defend democracy. to defend their fundamental rights. I think we own this. I’m running for re- election as president of the United States because of this. Rejoin us. Let’s complete the task, Biden tweeted. This opens the door to a potential rematch with Donald Trump. Additionally, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders, a past two-time candidate for president, announced on Tuesday that he supports President Biden’s bid for re-election, forgoing a third bid for the White House.

According to Fox News  confirmed that Sanders warned against a victory by former President Trump or another Republican and pledged to “do everything I can to see the president is re-elected”.
“The last thing this country needs is a Donald Trump or some other right-wing demagogue who is going to try to undermine American democracy or take away a woman’s right to choose, or not address the crisis of gun violence, or racism, sexism, or homophobia,” Sanders reportedly stated. I will thus do everything in my power to ensure the President’s reelection.

President Biden’s 2020 campaign message of fighting for the “soul of our nation,” bringing the nation together, and supporting the middle class was reaffirmed in the video named “Freedom,” according to his campaign. A clip from the demonstration outside the US Capitol on January 6 opens the video.
“Freedom. The American way of life is fundamentally based on individual liberty. Nothing is more critical. Nothing more holy,” stated 80-year-old Biden in the video. My first term’s work has been to fight for our democracy. There should be no red or blue sides to this.
The 2024 presidential election, according to Vice President Harris’ statement, will be a “pivotal moment in our history.” She gave a standing ovation as she said, “For the past two years, we have made revolutionary investments to build a nation in which everyone can be safe and healthy, find a good job, and retire with dignity.

“As Americans, we value freedom and liberty, and we think that the strength of our democracy depends on how determined we are to defend it. That is why @JoeBiden and I are seeking re-election, Harris tweeted.
Harris and Biden are still incredibly unpopular, with Biden’s approval rating hovering around the low 40s in most polls. His job performance currently receives a 44 percent approval rating compared to a 56 percent disapproval rating, according to the most recent national Fox News survey.
The COVID-19 pandemic, North Korea’s launch of ballistic missiles towards and over Japan, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and China’s unchecked ascent in the Indo-Pacific region, including their pushing nations away from using the US dollar and from supporting Taiwan, have all caused controversy during Biden’s time in office.

Domestically, Biden was also under investigation for mishandling classified information; documents from decades ago were discovered at his various properties. Violent crime is still high in cities across the nation, and the US-Mexico border is currently dealing with record-high immigration numbers, including a surge in deadly fentanyl. He also permitted a Chinese spy plane to fly across the nation.

The administration is also concerned about his son’s engagement with a Chinese and a Ukrainian energy company, as well as other economic dealings.
A number of Republicans have already declared their candidatures for the 2024 race, including Vivek Ramaswamy, Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott, and Biden’s 2020 rival, Donald Trump.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a member of the Democratic Party, has declared his desire to run for the party’s candidature.
