Ahead of the US presidential Elections in 2024 and amidst the party lawmakers asking him to give up, Joe Biden grimly persists for coming November race.

Despite democratic campaign chairman Jen O’Malley Dillon declaring, that Biden is staying in the presidential race and announcing him as a best person to challenge Donald trump, only less people seem to agree with this sentiment.

According to the survey and opinions, many lawmakers and party operators are asking the president to leave the race.

Earlier on Friday, four lawmakers including congressman Jamie Raskin from maryland and sean casten from Illinois have asked the biden to bow out of this race. While comparing biden with trump on the basis of good & bad qualities. Casten asked biden to leave the race with dignity & decency.

 If Not Biden Then Who?

However currently in a democrat party, there is no strong option and there is little to no public confidence in vice-president Kamala Harris. As a result, a stalemate has been established in a party.

Moreover, the initial fissures can cause open primary at party convention in Chicago at coming months. Which will be open-to all since 1968.

Some of the democrat lawmaker like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, are already worried, that if biden is removed from the nomination, some of them will attempt to throw Kamala Harris from the ticket.

But the congressional black caucus and several Latino lawmakers strongly support Biden Harris ticket.

What Happens If Biden Withdraws?

Despite Kamala being an implicit choice for biden as a president (if he withdraws), the mantle still isn’t assured.  Because, leaving the nomination if it is not soldified, doesn’t go to next running candidate, unlike in white house, where vice-president is automatically given the post, if the president resgins or leaves during his/her term in white house.

Hence, the party have to undertake a political process, where vote of more than 3000 delegates is needed to elect a nominee.

But, if Biden really withdraws from the presidential race, then members of the party might try to collect support for harris or another, who will be preferred by many delegates.  This might be done DNC meeting, which starts from August 19 at Chicago.

But till then, a consensus is reached, then an open convention will take place at Chicago. But it remains to be seen, what saga unfolds in the democratic party.
