UPSC RESULTS 2021: GIRLS SECURE ALL THREE TOP SLOTS, SHRUTI SHARMA TOPPER

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final results for the UPSC Civil Services exam 2021 on Monday. Shruti Sharma has secured all India Rank 1 in the final result. Interestingly, all the top three positions have been secured by girl candidates this year: Shruti, Ankita Agarwal, and Gamini Singla.

Shruti is an alumnus of St Stephen’s College and Jawaharlal Nehru University and has been preparing for UPSC Civil Services exam at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy. The toppers have been selected based on their performance in prelims exam, mains exam and the interview round. Amongst the top 10 rank holders are Aishwarya Verma (4), Utkarsh Dwivedi (5), Yaksh Chaudhary (6), Samyak S Jain (7), Ishita Rathi (8), Preetam Kumar (9), and Harkeerat Singh Randhawa (10).

A total of 685 candidates have been recommended for appointment in which there are only 22 Muslims, not a single one in first 100. Six north east candidates have cleared the exams: two candidates from Manipur, two

from Assam, and two from Nagaland. Six Keralites are amongst the top 50 ranks. Of the successful candidates, 244 are from general category, 73 from economically weaker sections, 203 from other backward classes, 105 from scheduled castes and 60 from the scheduled tribes, as per the successful candidates list issued by the Commission.

Congratulating those who successfully made it to the UPSC list this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to all those who have cleared the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021. My best wishes to these youngsters who are embarking on their administrative careers at an important time of India’s development journey, when we are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”

In another tweet, PM Modi said, “I fully understand the disappointment of those who could not clear the Civil Services Exam but I also know these outstanding youngsters who will make a mark in any field they pursue and make India proud. My best wishes to them”.

A total of 761 candidates cleared the UPSC CSE final examination in 2020 out of which 545 were men and 216 were women. Shubham Kumar, Jagrati Awasthi and Ankita Jain secured the first, second and third position respectively in the examination.
