Preparations are in high gear in Varanasi as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his constituency today. During his visit, PM Modi will launch and lay the foundation for various projects totaling approximately ₹1,300 crore.

Kaushal Raj Sharma, the Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, stated that the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for 23 projects in the city. “PM Modi will address a gathering in Varanasi on October 20, laying the groundwork for several initiatives and engaging with the public,” Sharma explained.

Among the key highlights, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Varanasi Sports Complex, which is undergoing redevelopment under the ‘Khelo India’ scheme and the Smart City Mission, with an investment of over ₹210 crore. The upgraded complex will feature a National Centre of Excellence, players’ hostels, a sports science center, practice fields for various sports, indoor shooting ranges, and combat sports arenas.

Additionally, PM Modi will unveil several airport projects worth over ₹6,100 crore. He is scheduled to inaugurate the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital at approximately 2 PM, which will provide comprehensive eye care services.

At around 4:15 PM, he will lay the foundation for various development projects, including the expansion of the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport runway and the construction of a new terminal building, estimated at ₹2,870 crore. The Prime Minister will also initiate new civil enclaves at Agra Airport (valued at over ₹570 crore), Darbhanga Airport (approximately ₹910 crore), and Bagdogra Airport (around ₹1,550 crore).

Moreover, he will inaugurate new terminal buildings for Rewa Airport, Maa Mahamaya Airport, Ambikapur, and Sarsawa Airport, totaling over ₹220 crore in investment. These enhancements will increase the combined passenger handling capacity of these airports to more than 2.3 crore annually, with designs reflecting the region’s heritage.
