The Uttar Pradesh government has cancelled all medical professionals’ leave due to an increase in dengue cases.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, there are fewer dengue cases this year than there were last. Doctors and paramedical employees have had their leaves cancelled by the Chief Minister’s Office.

He said that the rising dengue cases in Uttar Pradesh are under control and that every effort is being made to control the spread.

“Cases less as compared to last year. Beds are reserved in hospitals, and preparations for enough platelets are being made. Leaves of all government doctors and health-related people have been cancelled,” said Pathak.

The decision to send a high-level team to Uttar Pradesh in cooperation with the state government to implement dengue management measures in the Firozabad, Agra, and Etawah districts was announced earlier on Friday by the Centre.

“Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to depute a high-level multi-disciplinary team to Uttar Pradesh to collaborate with the State Health Authorities in instituting public health measures for dengue management in Firozabad, Agra, and Etawah districts,” the ministry informed in a press statement.

According to the statement, the six-person central team for Uttar Pradesh includes specialists from the Dr. RML Hospital in New Delhi, the National Center for Disease Control, and the National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control.

Dr. VK Chaudhary, Senior RD, Regional Office of Health and Family Welfare, Lucknow, will lead the group.

In order to handle the rising number of dengue cases being reported by the state, it was said that the team would work closely with the state health departments to assess the situation locally and recommend any necessary public health initiatives.
