A case was filed against an unidentified person after Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, received a death threat, according to the Lucknow police on Tuesday.
The threat was delivered through SMS on Dial 112, a number set up by the government of Uttar Pradesh for emergency services, in which the sender expressed a threat to kill Chief Minister Yogi shortly. After receiving the threat, the 112 Operation Commander submitted it to the Sushant Golf City police station. A case has been filed under Sections 506, 507, and IT Act 66 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“Case has been registered under sections 506 and 507 IPC and 66 IT Act in PS Sushant Golf City against an unknown person after ‘Dial 112’ receives death threat for Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath,” the police said. On Sunday, police made an unrelated arrest of the author of a letter that threatened to detonate a suicide bomb on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Kochi on April 24.
The police reported that Xavier has been named as the suspect.
