Agrarian community is already facing a lot of hurdles in the state with regards to problems like shortage of fertilizer, increasing costs of agriculture equipment and natural calamities. Apart from this, unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm continue to add to the woes of farmers as these damage the Rabi crops mustard, barley, gram, wheat, and vegetable crops in several districts across the state putting the farmers in a state of disparity. Among these, several pockets of different districts were affected on large scale districts leaving farmers distressed.

According to the data tabled here in assembly, light hailstorm and unseasonal rain accompanied by hail storm has caused damage to crops standing in 1.88 lakh acre land in Haryana. While no loss was reported Nuh, Karnal, Fatehabad, Panipat, Sirsa, Faridabad, Gurugram, Palwal, Jhajjar and Kurukshetra districts which led to annoy several legislators as they were raised questions against the Periodical Crop Inspection or Girdawari saying that the rain and hailstorm also caused huge damage to the crops in their districts as well as assembly areas which is not mentioned in the Girdawari report.

Jagbir Malik, a Congress MLA accused the government of not conducting Periodical Crop Inspection in a fair as a lot of villages in his assembly area Gohana were affected at large scale, but despite that, the Girdawari report does not involve any kind of details about the same. In a reaction to this, Dushyant Chautala, the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana announced to conduct special Girdawari in the above areas. Out of the aforesaid crop ruined to natural calamities, hailstorm coupled with rain lashed several districts causing damage to the Rabi crops including wheat and mustard.

Besides, vegetables were destroyed by heavy rain and hail. Crops standing in around 95000 acre were destroyed extensively as the damage to the crops has been from 50 to 100 percent in the concerned districts which is revealed by the Periodical Crop Inspection or Girdawari.

Out of the above-mentioned, the crops standing in 23316-acre land were damaged up to 75 percent or more than this. In this category, Yamunanagar emerged on the top with damaged crops standing in 10936 land to be followed by Charkhi Dadri, Jind, and Rewari with damaged crops in 8865, 2250 and 855 acre land. While the crops standing in 71300 acre land in different districts were damaged from 50 percent to 75 percent. Rohtak districts top the list with damaged crops in 25811 acre land to be followed by Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri and Yamunanagar districts with damaged crops standing in 23617, 15303, and 6123 acre land respectively.
