Who Is Nikita Hand? The Woman Who Defeated McGregor in Court

Nikita Hand, who accused MMA superstar Conor McGregor of sexual assault, won her civil case in Ireland. On Friday, the court awarded her $257,000 (₹2.17 crore) in damages. The allegations date back to December 2018, when Hand claimed McGregor “brutally raped and battered” her after a night of partying. McGregor, however, denied the accusations and insisted the encounter was consensual. As the jury delivered the verdict, McGregor shook his head in disappointment.

Who Is Nikita Hand?

Nikita Hand, a 35-year-old former hairdresser from Dublin, has struggled with mental health issues since the incident. She told the court that McGregor drove her to a south Dublin penthouse, where drugs and alcohol were present.

The assault deeply impacted her personal and professional life. She said she has been unable to work and revealed her relationship ended shortly after the incident. Furthermore, she had to leave her Drimnagh home, and her mortgage fell into arrears.

According to The Irish Times, Hand faced additional trauma in June when masked men broke into her home and stabbed her partner. She also spent over €4,000 (₹3.51 lakh) on medical and therapy expenses.

Hand’s Reaction

After the verdict, Hand urged others to speak up about their experiences. “I hope my story reminds others that no matter how scared you are, you have a voice,” she said. She thanked her family, particularly her daughter Freya, for their support.

“Freya gave me strength and courage during this nightmare,” Hand added. “I want to show her and others that justice can prevail, no matter who the perpetrator is.”

McGregor’s Response

McGregor announced his decision to appeal the ruling. On X (formerly Twitter), he said, “I am disappointed the jury did not hear all the evidence reviewed by the DPP. I am now focused on my future with my family.” He also thanked his supporters worldwide.

McGregor’s Career

Conor McGregor, a 36-year-old Irish MMA fighter, is a former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion. Known for his success in the sport, he remains one of MMA’s biggest stars. However, this legal battle adds another controversy to his public image.
