US Thief Returns Stolen Baby Jesus Statue
A Baby Jesus statue from the nativity scene in Old Town Square was stolen during Christmas celebrations in Fort Collins, Colorado. The statue mysteriously reappeared at a local fire station with an apology note from the thief. The statue had been missing since December 17, leaving the nativity scene incomplete, but its return just before Christmas brought relief to the community.
The Fort Collins Police Department had earlier posted a picture of a suspect—a blonde-haired individual—who was reportedly seen stealing the ceramic statue from the nativity display. “This Grinch tried to ruin Christmas by stealing the Baby Jesus from the Old Town Square nativity scene,” the police wrote on Facebook, along with the image of the suspect.
It came back to the Poudre Fire Authority just a few days later. This time it came with a handwritten note that authorities claimed was from the thief himself. The note read, “I am really sorry. I made a dumb mistake at the moment. It won’t happen again.”
The statue was recovered with some broken fingers. It is not known if that happened before or after it was stolen. An apology note had accompanied the statue, but still, the police were not able to identify the thief.
