US Stands with India, Demands Justice for Pahalgam Attack Victims

The United States has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, India, and reaffirmed its support for India in its ongoing fight against terrorism. The U.S. has called for the perpetrators of this “heinous” attack to be brought to justice.

Support for India and Condemnation of Terrorism

In a statement on Thursday, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce emphasized the U.S.’s firm stance alongside India. “As President Trump and Secretary Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India and strongly condemns all acts of terrorism,” Bruce said.

She also expressed her condolences for the victims, stating, “We pray for the lives of those lost and for the recovery of the injured and call for the perpetrators of this heinous act to be brought to justice.”

The terror attack occurred on Tuesday near Pahalgam, a popular tourist town in Kashmir, when terrorists opened fire on a group of civilians. The attack claimed the lives of 26 people, most of whom were tourists.

U.S. Response to the Attack

When asked about the possibility of Pakistan’s involvement in the attack or if the U.S. is playing a role in de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Bruce declined to comment further. She acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, noting, “What I can tell you is, of course, as we all know, it’s a rapidly changing situation, and we are monitoring it closely.”

Position on Kashmir and Jammu

Bruce also clarified that the U.S. is not taking a position on the status of Kashmir or Jammu. She stated, “That’s really going to be the extent of what I can say today.” Additionally, she refrained from commenting on whether President Trump had offered to mediate between India and Pakistan during his first term.
