Prosecutors say Brown punched Diaw multiple times in the head and body with a tequila bottle. Brown then allegedly punched and kicked Diaw, with another individual helping him do so.

The attack was reportedly caught on CCTV. Additionally, Diaw has brought a civil action to recover £12 million ($16 million) for injuries and losses sustained during the attack.

Bail Conditions

Chris Brown came back to the UK and was arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on 15th May 2025. A judge at Manchester Magistrates’ Court initially refused bail on grounds that the case was serious. But on 21st May, Judge Tony Baumgartner released Brown on bail under tight restrictions.

Chris Brown has to pay a £5 million security and hand over his passport, only for purposes of travel associated with his tour. He also has to stay at a stipulated UK address until trial.

Impact on Future Tour

With bail being secured, Chris Brown is free to continue his “Breezy Bowl XX” global tour. The tour commemorates the 20th anniversary of his music career. It commences on June 8 in Amsterdam and features performances in key UK cities like Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow. Simultaneously, the legal case proceeds. Brown is next due at Southwark Crown Court on June 13 for a court hearing.

Serious bodily harm with intent is a serious UK crime. It has a maximum life sentence. Because the case is so high-profile, it has had extensive media coverage.
